In the meantime, I am using the last shreds of July to write all the commissioned stories I owe people. “Pale Tree House” went this morning, “By the Weeping Gate” will be done by next weekend, and “The Burning Circus” should be finished today. “The Night Stair” and “The Widow Tree” will have to wait a little.
That way, on 1 August I shall be able to launch a blitz-style attack on the Brisneyland by Night novel, surprising it into being finished by the end of the month. September will be Flense Month.
