Just saw the galleys for The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy & Horror 2011, edited by Paula Guran and I couldn’t help but give a squeeeeee of excitement. Why, yes, it did scare some (okay, all) of my colleagues.
But it looks so awesome and I read over the beginnings of a few of the stories – Norman Partridge’s Lesser Demons OMG, I can only pray for such creepy talent – and thought how much I want to have this book on my shelves.
The fact that Brisneyland by Night is reprinted therein (and neatly slotted in next to Neil Gaiman’s The Thing about Cassandra) makes things even better. Add to that a ToC that includes Tanith Lee, Laird Barron, Ekaterina Sedia, Gene Wolfe, Holly Black, George R R Martin, Tim Powers and soooo many more legends, and you will understand that I am also now Snoopy Dancing *fear me, colleagues!*
So exciting! I’m looking forward to it!
🙂
I’d like to be snuggled up next to Neil Gaiman. Congratulations! Now I can boast about how I knew you back when.
I’m already using the ‘knew you back when’ boastings (cos I did). Now it will have an extra layer of complexity. Congrats Dearest! 🙂
Bless ya, Bob … you’re assuming I will do something worth boasting about …
You already have 😀
Awwww.
