Shirley Jackson Awards

It’s that time of year and I’m so excited to see that The Bone Lantern has been nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award in the novella category! It’s a squeeeee moment because when I first read The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle, I could never have dreamed of being on a shortlist like this – so I’m pinching myself hard enough to draw blood just in case I’m dreaming!

And I mean, jeeeeeez, look at this list!!

NOVELLA

The Bone Lantern by Angela Slatter (PS Publishing)

Bound Feet by Kelsea Yu (Cemetery Gates Media)

Catastrophe by Deirdre Danklin (Texas Review Press)

Lure by Tim McGregor (Tenebrous Press)

Pomegranates by Priya Sharma (PS Publishing)

The Wehrwolf by Alma Katsu (Amazon Original Stories)

A huge thanks to the judges and organisers, and special thanks and major hugs to Marie O’Regan for commissioning this weird little story for the Absinthe Books imprint of PS Publishing. And eternal gratitude to Daniele Serra for that glorious cover!

The Bone Lantern is set in the Sourdough world, just so you know … and has links to the novels All the Murmuring Bones and The Path of Thorns, as well as the Sourdough, Bitterwood and Tallow-Wife collections … and the teeny-tiny chapbook No Good Deed (the ebook of which you can download for free here).

The full shortlists are here – and oh my! Such company to be in!!!
