The Sharp Drive-by: Marianne De Pierres

Marianne De Pierres is (a) prolific, (b) talented, (c) cross-genre, (d) all of the above. Discuss. No, wait, don’t. No point in discussing solid facts. She has written the best-selling Parrish Plessis SF series, the Sentients of Orion series, the crime series chronicling the adventures of the kick-ass Tara Sharp, and the Burn Bright kids’ series.

1. What are the five essentials in any story?
A point, a beginning, a middle, and an end. And a character worth knowing.

2. What should always be edited out of a story?
Clichés (hate ’em!). Still find they creep in from time to time, but I hack at them with a machete when I find them.

3. If I wasn’t a writer I would …
… be insane. When I was younger though, a professional athlete.

4. Which sale caused you to Snoopy Dance around the room?
The Parrish Plessis trilogy – after I got over the shock.

5. Donuts (or doughnuts) or danishes?
Danishes.

She blogs here … and in other places … one of them is here, as Marianne Delacourt, her nom-de-plume for the Tara Sharp series.
