- Fiction writing must be active and immediate.
- Don’t tell readers stuff they don’t need to know.
- Allow your readers to figure things out.
- Never remind readers they’re reading.
- You must re-write.
- Know the rules of the language and follow them.
- Understand your time period. Details do matter.
- Make it pretty. Format correctly!
- Favor the specific over the generic.
- Every element of your story must possess both set-up and motivation.
