In today’s mail …

Jeff VanderMeer’s gorgeous Steampunk Bible and Kelly Link & Gavin Grant’s equally fabulous Steampunk! Both hard cover goodness filled with awesome.

And in the latter is Kathleen Jennings’ truly wonderful graphic novelly, steampunky story about finishing schools and dentists.

  1. Very nice. I just received Margaret Atwood’s -In Other Words, very smooth writing and beautiful cover. Have had my eye on Jeff VanderMeer’s Steampunk Bible myself though.

Have not gotten my paws on that Atwood as yet – am a big fan of ‘Moral Disorder’.

  3. It will be the first Atwood I have read. Have her books on my TBR list but every time I get close to being able to get to it, i get more review copies. Still have Kraken and The Shattered City to read and I am sure I bought them 9 months ago.

I did happen across your short The Jacaranda Wife though – excellent!

Glad you liked it – this arvo we drove past the old house where I used to live when I wrote that story, so I could see the tree in full bloom again. So glorious.

  5. We have one in the front yard. In our old house we had a section of street with Jacarandas on both sides. I have fond memories of riding over an iridescent purple carpet on the way to work every morning.
